Wat spotting

After a relaxing day at the Four Seasons we headed out to visit two historic Wat sites as described in the previous Our day in Chiang Mai.

Is that the sound of insects in the jungle? Very exciting…

It’s cicadas – the sound of the beginning of summer, they say. It is SO loud. But only for an hour or so in the morning, around noon and right after the sun sets. You can hear one start, then another, then they all go – and then all die back down. The folks at the Four Seasons were very assuring that the noise wouldn’t last too long, ma’am, almost finished, only a little bit. I think it sounds half soothing and half like the “Lost” monster.
