This weekend we had quite a few adventures. Saturday morning we moved from Relax Resort to Power Beach Resort. Both are on the same beach, so we did it barefoot in bathing suits. Then we spent the morning on the beach – the water here is so perfect. At 2pm, we decided to hike into town. There is a viewpoint at the top of the hill that we aimed for, knowing once we hit that, we just had to hike down the other side to town. Our side of the hill was not well marked, and it turns out there are 3 viewpoints, and then there was a rain storm – maybe it doesn’t take everyone two hours to reach the main port, but the view from the top and the swim when we finally made it were well worth it. We happily took a water taxi home. Sunday we watched the sun rise from our bungalow porch – the dawn cicadas were a perfect alarm clock. We beached it again after breakfast. I practiced my snorkeling on the beach to get ready for our afternoon boat ride – which was mostly me panicking 20 feet offshore with water in my nose and Christian holding my hand. It was practice. I did much better once we were out on Phi Phi Ley, the smaller sister island to Phi Phi Don. It was gorgeous and really exciting. I finally worked out a combo of hand holding and C letting me use the best mask and snorkel. He is a great husband. We stopped in town on the way back for more sunscreen – that feels good in mid-March. Now we’re having dinner and watching Air Force One on the TV at the beach bar. At least there aren’t commercials… We love our little hut in the hills of Phi Phi and will miss it as we head to Koh Lanta tomorrow.
