I went to exchange our window A/C with the newer unit only to almost drop the old one out of the window when I was startled by our surprise guests. If I would have reached 6 inches closer I would have a handful of chicks and no A/C. The mother didn’t even move an inch as I pulled the unit out of the window to reveal her nest. She only turned around to warm her 2 chicks as I slowly closed the window on half of the nest. Now we have 2 uninstalled units on our floor. Task reversed. Ugh.
Don’t worry! The chicks look pretty big. They will be gone in a few days/weeks, flying out of the nest. Give them a chance. She is a great mother…facing a stranger to protect her brood…
LOVE Mommy
Thank you. Yes we tried to keep her (and then) safe from our intrusion. So far so good. I hope she can keep them safe without the protection of the air conditioner which was protecting from the wind. I’ll keep tabs on the progress.
Awww. So cute. I always knew Cat wanted a pet pigeon.
OH MY GOODNESS! Ok, so i know you guys are long gone but what was the status when you left.? And she’s a beautiful DOVE. How nice. I love this. What a happy omen. xoxoxoxooxx
We reinstalled the AC and she started to make another nest – so we bought windowsill spikes. The doves sat on the AC for two days staring at us in disbelief. C&C 1, Birds 0. Although…one time a pigeon did slap me in the face, so maybe we’re just even.
DOVE slap!
oh wait i see, a pigeon at another point slapped you. wotta jerk!
