We had an awesome Mother’s Day weekend in Omaha! We drove from Brooklyn, MI to Omaha in 11 hours exactly. Including a stop at Olive Garden for dinner – thanks Ted and Shannon! The temperature changed quite a bit throughout the day – from 74 to 53 and back – but we ended with a beautiful clear night in Omaha. It was dark through Iowa, so all you could see were the red blinking lights of the turbines – for miles and miles.
Saturday was sports day – Lizzie had a soccer game and Nathan had baseball. We loved being there to cheer them on. We saw the Swansons for dinner – super fun to see everyone together! C was ‘it’ the most playing tag – I mostly scarfed down the fried morels and catfish.
We had a delicious Mother’s Day brunch at Lauritzen Gardens. They have a Lego exhibit that’s really cool. Sculptures made with tens of thousands of Lego bricks. We went back to the house for mimosas and a slide show of our Thailand pictures. It was fun to relive the trip, and Nathan was a big help with the photos.
Yesterday we got to see Nancy and Karen – and their new cars! It was fun to compare all the features that cars have now – their Cadillacs will buzz your seat if you drift into another lane! Genius.
Dave and Lynn had us all over for steaks for our last meal in Omaha. It was a perfect ending to a great weekend. We hope to be back soon!
This game is harder than it looks!
