This nose…

I just want to eat him up. His little Lou Who nose gets me every time. We’re on a bit of a kick of 2/3 hour feedings during the day, and 4/6 hour feedings at night. Very unpredictable, but ideally I’m asleep for the longer periods. C takes care of Lukas in the evenings so … Continue reading

Snuggled in

Luka is still doing a lot of sleeping. He seems to sleep best when his face is smooshed into your arm, shoulder or chest. Sometimes he makes little snarfly snoring sounds, but when he’s sleeping deeply, he’s silent. He likes to be held high up on your shoulder so he can watch the world go … Continue reading

Four weeks

Lukas turned a month old today. He wasn’t much in the mood to celebrate…

Time Warp

Wow, does time fly! Lukas Charles Olson was born a strong 8lbs on Halloween. We’ve spent the four weeks since getting to know him and catering to his every need and satisfying his every desire. He’s the most demanding house guest we’ve ever had. Especially when you consider what he’s eating. The nursery is very … Continue reading

Our summer

We’ve been having an amazing summer! We’ve had friends visiting from NY, my parents came from Maryland to set up their new home, we went to the lake house in Minnesota and are finally starting our kitchen renovation. Alicia and Brian threw us a wonderful baby shower while my parents were here. I’ve been working … Continue reading

Before and After

What a difference a week makes! We spent a wonderful 8 days in Minnesota, enjoying family lake time, and came home to a jungle. I’ve been trying so far this year to take a trug out with me every time I go in the garden to just do little weeding touch ups. I didn’t realize … Continue reading

Our big news!

Christian and I issued the “official” announcement this week: we’re having a baby! Every time I say it, I almost can’t believe it.

Some updates, then:
– We have our first ultrasound next Friday. Emily will be in town from CO, and Alicia and Josie will come, too. We can’t wait to see the baby!
– I finally have a bump. Crazy that I’m halfway through the pregnancy, and I’m only now really showing. At least I think so…my boss told me 3 weeks ago that she knew I was pregnant (I innocently asked if it was because I’m eating all the time). So maybe there’s been a pudge for a bit…
– I can feel the baby move. Christian can’t feel it yet from the outside, but we’re both looking forward to that.

We asked Alicia to take our picture for the announcement. Josie really wanted to be in it. Midway through, she said that she thinks there are “two babies in there…one boy and one girl”. It was hilarious.

The Flower Garden

A couple months ago, Alicia, Josie and I planted a little flower bed surrounded by a rock border. We scattered (Josie mostly plunked fistfuls) various seed packets on the plot…and waited. Nothing happened for a long time, so we figured birds had gotten the seeds. And then!

Also: wear an apron when you garden. I know I look like I’m slinging burgers, but I can carry around my tools and gloves, stash my phone and wipe my hands off. I love it.

That is my favorite shade of pink/purple.
