Strange brew: Seattle Nights with Brian and Alicia.
Seattle is a beer town. A good beer town; with the focus on hops and extra hops. A true local will order a hand crafted iPA from around the corner. We are four weeks into our stay and I feel the urge to get a beer so locally exclusive we’d have to make it ourself.
Luckily Brian Henry, brother in law, small batch IPA brewer and forgiven Boston fan is willing to help us use his home brewery and guidance for our first brew. I convince Brian that we need to stray from his typically hoppy taste to make a porter. He agreed and later I would see that we added extra hops to the recipe at zero minutes into the boil. This is the kind of Seattle beer we must make (well the kind Brian and Alicia would show us how to make.;)
Cat and I stopped at our new local butcher in Yelm on the drive from the farm getting 4 Ribeyes at a pound each. Alicia had started prepping the brewing area by the time we arrived and Josie was making her “pink-pinks”.
Brian returned from work ready to help us brew and the evening came to a full swing. Soon we had the wart boiling, steaks on our plate and an impromptu late night sidewalk dinner in the car port.
Everything worked perfectly and in a few more weeks we can do it again while enjoying our best local porter.
