Boiler Up! We stopped at Purdue University on our drive from Batesville, IN to Brooklyn, MI. It was fun to see where C went to school and while we couldn’t get inside to test the temperature (hmmm – suspicious?), I can confirm the existence of the Cold Air Dorm. C can explain sometime if you’ve not heard of it. The campus was in graduation mode, so we both reminisced a little about what it’s like to have your whole life ahead of you, full of promise and opportunity, and a bit of fear of the unknown. Sounds a little like our current path… Even more so since we’re making Omaha an immediate stop for laundry and mom’s home cooking 😉
Since Pete had a bunch of SAE stuff to do, we headed straight to the cabin we’d reserved in Waterloo State Recreation Area. It was really cool – about a quarter mile from the road, grill and fire pit, no electricity. We grilled brats, built a fire and played our guitar & ukulele around it into the night. Then we tried to sleep. We’re used to civilian noises, so we both had a bit of trouble with the pitter patter of woodland creatures…but we made it to dawn and want to do it again out west. This time with other campers nearby.
