San Francisco was so much fun! Thank you to Javier and Lori for hosting us in their awesome house – the adventure of parking in the garage of your steep steep street was a highlight! So perfectly SF!
We went to a Hops and History beer tasting on Thursday night. My favorite beer was the brown ale from Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery (www.magnoliapub.com). I also liked the Hell or High Watermelon from 21st Amendment Brewery. Not sweet, just a hint of melon flavor – I love watermelon! Now if someone could please make a popcorn beer…
C and I spent Friday roaming around the city. We had another burrito, checked out a few vistas and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The Giants played that night, so we all headed to the stadium to soak in some team spirit. Chris and Cassie met up with us at Zeitgeist, a biker bar in the Mission. It was so fun to be together with our NY friends in a new city.
We got up and at ’em on Saturday, ready for a scenic drive and some wine tasting. The weather cooperated again, and we kept the sunroof open for a gorgeous drive through the Marin Headlands and then onto the Pacific Coast Highway.
We started our wine tasting at Red Car Winery, where we used a Yelp deal for a free flight. Checking other deals, we spotted one at J Vineyards, my favorite winery from my family’s visit in 2006. C and I decided to become members, and enjoyed a very full tasting with Wine Specialist Steve. We highly recommend seeking him out. In fact, if anyone is thinking of a visit to Sonoma, invite us! We have all kinds of perks we can’t wait to use!
We enjoyed a seafood dinner at Willi’s in Healdsburg and then a sunset drive up to Ukiah, CA. We’ll hit some Anderson Valley wineries today – after the Indy 500, of course. Go Marco!
Remembering Indy 500 but watching Grand Prix de Monaco on TV. Different kind of fast!
Happy Memorial Day to you and all your fans.
