We waited at the station for the 9:01pm that turned into the 9:45pm…no matter. We shared our sleeper car with a lovely young Brit named Kate (19 and traveling before university) and a Czech stranger on the top bunk that stumbled in at 10pm, climbed up to his bunk and passed out without closing the little curtain. Meanwhile, C and I had ear plugs, face wash wipes, eye masks…and had ordered an egg and toast breakfast to be delivered at 8am. We must’ve seemed to be a “nice older American couple”. We slept in a shaky, creaking car until about 6am – C got to snore all night since it was the least of the noises – and were up in time to watch early morning slip by. We were running about 2 hours behind by that time, so we got to see a lot of the countryside. We haggled the cabbie down when we arrived at the train station, like you’re supposed to, and were treated to a nice air conditioned ride to the Four Seasons. This place is unbelievable. We’re venturing into town (free shuttle bus) this evening, then planning on a full day at our little villa tomorrow. It is a honeymoon, after all.

Looks like you are on “Thai time”. Must take some getting used to. Enjoy!
I keep joking with Christian that I hope I don’t get used to it! Everything is such a treat and so special – we will help you and Dad plan your trip 🙂
Ahhhh – foot massages. My favorite part of Thailand.
We got them on a busy corner at the walking street – perfect people watching. $1.75 for 30 minutes…hard to beat!
